Botox Injections: What To Expect

About Me
A New You

A couple of years ago, I noticed a bump growing on my face. At first, I didn’t worry about this development. I assumed the bump would eventually go away on its own. Unfortunately, the lump on my face continued to grow. Because it was close to my right eye, I decided to make an appointment with a local dermatologist. This kind, experienced physician informed me that the bump on my face was actually a harmless cyst. With a small tool, she expertly removed the cyst from my face. The procedure was relatively painless. On this blog, I hope you will discover some pain free solutions dermatologists use to improve people’s facial appearances. Enjoy!

Botox Injections: What To Expect

If you've never had Botox injections before, you should know what you're in for and get all of the information beforehand, so you know what to expect during and after your injections. You need to be informed, as you are getting a toxin injected into your body. There are going to be side effects that you need to be aware of after you receive these injections so you know if what you are experiencing is normal, or what you should bring up to your dermatologist. Read on for a few things you can expect after you have had Botox injections.

Redness, Swelling, Tenderness, Or Pain

After you have had your injections, you're going to need to understand that you will have redness, tenderness and possibly swelling afterward. This should all go away after a day or two, but if you continue to have this and it persists or worsens, you need to get to your dermatologist. You could possibly be having some sort of reaction to the injections, and you may need some treatment to help ease the swelling or pain. You may feel tender where the injections were given, and this is also going to be normal, but if the pain persists, get to the dermatologist. You may be able to take an over-the-counter pain medication to help with the pain that you feel, but it shouldn't persist longer than a few days.

"Frozen" Face

Botox is botulism toxin, which is essentially a toxin that is being injected into your skin. It paralyzes the muscles in the face, and at first, your face may feel "frozen", or appear "frozen" in place. This will ease after a week, and you may feel more like yourself, although without as many wrinkles. The good thing about Botox is that it is temporary, so if you don't like it, your face will become at ease after a few weeks or a few months, and after the effects of the Botox wears off, you can choose to never get the injections again, or you can opt-in for more injections if you did like how you looked.

If you aren't sure what to expect with Botox injections, you need to discuss these injections with your dermatologist. Get informed before any type of cosmetic procedure and be sure you have all of your questions answered before you jump into any type of procedure. Always use a professional dermatologist for Botox injections, and never use anyone that is not a professional and is trained to give these injections.
